On 2nd January 1828 Louisa Peters, the 4th daughter of Thomas and Mary ‘Ann’ Peters, married John Hayes. It was ten years since her eldest sister Elizabeth had married George Armytage, (by then five of that couple’s 12 children had been born). John Hayes’ parents had been free settlers with Lieutenant-Governor David Collins' expedition. He has the distinction of being the first Free Born white male child born in Tasmania.  John Hayes and Elizabeth Hayes nee Peters lived at Marlebrook, Bagdad. They had 10 children.
