Wyandra 1925 - A Hotel & Hairdressing, and Fishing Trips

Bernadine Monica Grant married Alexander William [Sonny] Frazer in Wyandra on 21st march 1921. These photos have all been scanned are  from an album that belonged to her. Thomas Henry Grant is in the middle photo and Margaret Jane Grant (nee Doyle) is seated on the rear of the car in the next photo. The children in the car would be Bernadine’s sons, ‘Lex’ and Tom. The driver for the family fishing trip in “old jigger” is Bernie’s brother Thomas Douglas Grant, (always called “Doug”).

The street images are of the store and “motor garage” that was diagonally opposite the Commercial Hotel on the intersection of Mack St and Warrego St. The Wyandra War Memorial that is shown below was erected in 1921.

…”If you were travelling, you’d tie the water bag to the front of your bumper bar, full of water, and the evaporative effect of the air running over the canvas would cool down the water inside. You wouldn’t put in inside the car because it would drip. They didn’t lose much water, but they did become wet on the outside - that was the idea.”
